Janki Patel, PharmD
Dr. Janki Patel is an accomplished pharmaceutical professional with expertise in Global Medical Information and U.S. Medical Affairs. She began her career as a post-doctoral fellow at Merck, focusing on medical information, and currently serves as an Associate Scientific Director, Medical Affairs Strategy at AbbVie. Her experience spans multiple therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, and oncology (solid tumors and hematologic malignancies).
Dr. Patel completed the Rutgers University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program in collaboration with Merck in 2021. During her fellowship, she earned a Teaching and Learning Certificate, served as an APPE preceptor, and played an active role in fellowship recruitment—interviewing candidates and helping select future fellows.
In her current role at AbbVie, Dr. Patel leads and contributes to:
● Strategy development and promotional review
● Scientific content creation and evidence generation
● MSL resource development and training
● Advisory board and symposia execution
● KOL engagement and new medical affairs initiatives
Her contributions were recently recognized with an award for the implementation of SIUU, a new FDA guidance.
Dr. Patel earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2019 and is a licensed pharmacist in New Jersey. She is a member of Rho Chi Honor Society and ASHP.
